2025 SCI Canada Science Outreach Award Recipients: Scientists in School
We are proud to be the 2025 recipient organization of the Science Outreach Award. This award recognizes a Canadian organization that has demonstrated sustained effort engaging the public in learning about chemistry and its impact on society.
The Society of Chemical Industry was founded in 1902, and they annually celebrate achievements in Canada showcasing scientific innovation and collaboration, highlighting the pivotal role of chemistry in shaping the future.
Collaboration has been key to Scientists in School’s success in reaching young minds across Canada. Partnerships with educators, school boards, community organizations, and donors have expanded our reach and amplified our impact, enabling the delivery of engaging, experiential workshops to over 11 million young scientists and counting.
To be nominated is an honour – we are grateful to our long-time supporter, Syngenta, and the individual who took the time to recognize our work and put Scientists in School forward.

Led by dynamic presenters who are experts in their fields, and with plentiful scientific materials placed in the hands of young scientists, our curriculum-enhancing workshops enrich learning and bring real-world science and engineering into the hands of budding scientists.
We are passionate about inspiring children to experience a sense of wonder and gain a real understanding about the world around them. We continually strive to maintain our own sense of wonder for what we do, as we instill this sense of inquiry and discovery in others.
Where to Next? Our Continued Mission and Vision at Scientists in School
At Scientists in School, we are focused on the future. When we design our curriculum-aligned programming, we are thinking about the hundreds of thousands of children and youth in Canada who will experience it each year. We are striving to give them the tools to be confident in STEM, build critical thinking skills, heighten their interest in STEM careers, and dream of a future they perhaps never thought possible – until they became scientists during one of our workshops.
We believe in our mission to ignite scientific curiosity in children, and we strive to make it a reality every day. It is a great honour to be seen and recognized in our community for our work today and in the years to come.
